President’s Message – February 8, 2026

Hello Fellow Picklers!

The Executive Committee has a few updates and reminders to share with you at this time.

No matter what your skill level, everyone is welcome to join us at our first social event of the season to play pickleball and socialize with other members. No registration is required. Just show up and play.

1:00pm – 3:00pm

Social Committee

The Merchandise Committee will be at the Fun Pickleball Play & Social event displaying the club merchandise. They will have clothing, hat or visor samples and can take your order and payment.  Pay for your items with your credit card by tapping on our mobile handheld device (AKA Oscar) or provide cash or check (payable to Silveridge Pickleball Club).

1:00pm – 3:00pm

Merchandise Committee

Can you participate in the sale of club merchandise at one of the social events? If you can volunteer, please click here to sign-up on the SUG sign-up.

Thank you for participating as a volunteer.

Contact Kathy Carli if you have any questions.

Kathy Carli, Merchandise Committee Chair, lot #664

Plates, napkins & silverware will be provided.

See you there!

If you have any questions about the happy hour potluck, contact Jack & Berniece Hall, Dave & Deb Grimm or Jim & Debbie Eschliman.

The Social Committee

We have 12 volunteers participating in the Outdoor Play Day at Sunshine Acres Children’s Home at 3405 N. Higley Rd, Mesa on February 15th. There will be several other events the kids will be participating in – which includes pickleball. Our volunteers will facilitate 30-40-minute clinics, each will teach the kids about court safety and etiquette and how to play the game. The kids will rotate in and out of the clinics between 4:00 and 6:00 pm.

Thank you for volunteering and participating in our special event and helping our community learn about the fun sport of pickleball and the generosity of our club.

Should you have any questions, contact Debbie Nelson at lot 290.

The Renter’s Association has provided financial funding to the Club on numerous occasions. With those funds we have purchased several items, which have improved the Pickleball Club.

Therefore, we ask our pickleball players (and their spouses/significant others) to support the bingo fund and the Renter’s Association by playing bingo on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026.

  • Doors open at 4:30pm
  • Arrive early if you plan to eat – Taco salad, subject to change
  • Dinner is served from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, while supplies last
  • Bingo begins promptly at 6:00pm

If you don’t sign up before February 12th, you can still attend and play bingo.

For the Group 3.5 tournament, the King/Queen of the court format will be used. Winners of each game advance up a court and change partners for the next game; the losers of each game drop down a court and change partners for the next game. More specifics will be provided at the start of the event.

All registered players are to arrive at the courts and be checked in at the registration table by 9:30 am sharp. The tournaments start at 10:00 am.

To ease the organization of the event, we will be using an even number of players. The minimum number of participants required for this event is 20.

Come take on the challenge!

Group 3.5 Tournament, February 21, on courts 1-5: Click here to sign-up on SUG to participate!

If you have questions about your tournament, contact Jack Hall or Barry Halpenny.

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Saturday, March 7th. Dinner will be served at 5:00 pm and the AGM will begin at approximately 5:45pm. The AGM is for the purpose of electing officers, proposing revisions to the bylaws, approving any proposed changes in dues, reviewing the season at hand and planning for the future. Some of these topics will be on the agenda. Current members are eligible to vote at the AGM.

If you plan to attend the dinner and AGM, please sign-up on SUG and pay before 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 5.  Current members and their partner/significant other who are not members are welcome to attend the meeting and dinner. All attendees will pay $5 per person for the meal:

please click here to pay for 2 people attending the event

Links to pay for the meal can be found on the SUG sign up. The meal will be served at 5:00 pm and the meeting will take place after we eat.

The sign-ups for round robin sessions are available 1 week in advance. Please take a few minutes and sign-up for your round robin so your Round Robin Captains can prepare for organizing the session and the executive can gather correct attendance records for the development of or revisions to the court schedules. If your plans change after signing up and you’re unable to attend, please remove your name from the sign-up.

If you require assistance with SUG you can ask your teammates, round robin captains or, contact:

Kathy Port, Lot #637 or call/text (907) 460-2323

Donna Stensrud, Lot #13 or call/text (780) 905-8680

Or another Executive Committee Member.

If you know someone who isn’t a member yet and is interested in learning what pickleball is all about, the pickleball basics, and joining in on the fun, suggest they attend the Tuesday, 10:00 am Group 2.0 & Introduction to Pickleball session on courts 3 & 4. This session is for both members and non-members. Mentors are going to be on the courts to help participants learn how to play the game.

Club paddles are available for their use, and balls are provided.  They should bring water, wear appropriate shoes and eyewear.

We look forward to meeting them!

If you have time in your busy schedule, consider attending a Group 2.0 or 2.5 round robin and be a mentor/guide for these newbies who are learning the pickleball basics. Thank you to the volunteers who have already helped at a round robin. Click here to visit the sign-up to be a mentor, or just show up at the courts. New players in the Group 2.0 and 2.5 would really appreciate the guidance because they aspire to be a pickleball player just like you!
