Hello Picklers!
Another successful and fun event-filled season is sadly coming to an end. Some of you have already gone home, some will be leaving soon and the “full-timers” remain in Silveridge.

Annual General Meeting – March 7, 2026
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Saturday, March 7th. We served a pizza dinner and ice cream for dessert and the AGM followed with over 109 in attendance.
During the AGM we recognized the many volunteers who make your club a success, reviewed the current season & share the clubs financials, talked about a few potential plans for the future, held an open forum to hear from our members, bid farewell to the 2 executive committee members who retired and elected next year’s executive committee:
- 1st Vice-President: Jack Hall – term expires March 2028
- 2nd Vice-President: Jim Eschliman – term expires March 2027
- Secretary: Suzan Ott – term expires March 2027
- Treasurer: Julie Nosko – term expires March 2028
- Communications Officer: Carol Koch – term expires March 2028
The people listed above either moved into a different position, occupied an acting position since November 2025 or are new to the executive committee.
- President: Donna Stensrud – term expires March 2027, was not included in the election because she was elected into that term during the March 2025 AGM.

Membership Survey
The Executive Committee created the survey of questions seeking members input to provide guidance and ideas for next season and make changes as needed. The survey was open from February 11 to March 9, 2026.
The anonymous electronic survey was completed by 101 members, which represents 39% of our membership as of March 9th. We almost met our goal, which was to beat last year’s participation by having more than 40% of the members complete the survey this year.
Click here to access the survey responses report.
Thank you for participating, we appreciate your feedback. The Executive Committee will be reviewing the results over the coming months.

Congratulations to the winners, who are pictured above (left to right): 2nd place winners: Tom Droulliard and Brad Oliver; 1st place winners: Greg Ott and Rick Port; Referee, Barry Halpenny.
Thanks to Barry for refereeing the final game.
Fun Social Events

Unfortunately, the Fun Pickleball Play & Social Event and Season Ending BBQ on Saturday, March 21, 2026 has been cancelled due to the extreme hot weather.
On behalf of all the members, we want to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Social Committee (Jack Hall, Berneice Hall, Dave Grimm, Deb Grimm, Jim Eschliman and Deb Eschliman) and their many helpers who organized and worked hard at the 11 very successful and fun social events.

New Players
If you know someone who isn’t a member yet and is interested in learning what pickleball is all about, the pickleball basics, and joining in on the fun, suggest they attend the last few Tuesday, 10:00 am Group 2.0 & Introduction to Pickleball sessions on courts 3 & 4 before the season ends. This session is for both members and non-members. Mentors are going to be on the courts to help participants learn how to play the game.
Club paddles are available for their use, and balls are provided. They should bring water, wear appropriate shoes and eyewear.
We look forward to meeting them!

Season Ends – Friday, April 3
Organized play ends on Friday, April 3 and Sign-Up Genius will no longer be used after this date. There will still be plenty of opportunity to play on the courts during the day or in the evenings for those players who are still in Silveridge.

April is National Pickleball Month
April is officially designated as National Pickleball Month in the United States. The month highlights the health, fitness and social benefits of the sport.
In case you didn’t see it on FaceBook or on our News feed, here is the link to the article we posted back in November. I think it is fitting for the National Pickleball Month – The Psychology of Pickleball: Why We’re All Addicted (and Proud of It) – by Lee Whitwell
Keep on pickling!

President’s Cup Tournament – 2026
For the fifth consecutive year, Mike Savre will organize what always proves to be a fun event for those able to stay a little past the end of March.
- Sunday evening, April 5th, at 5:30 pm for anyone currently in the 2.0 to 3.25 group;
- Tuesday evening, April 7th, at 5:30 pm for anyone currently in the 3.5 to 4+ group;
- Wednesday evening, April 8th will be used if one of the earlier dates is cancelled due to weather;
- We will again follow a “King/Queen of the Hill” format consisting of 6 qualifying 11-minute games and a 7th championship game between the final 4 players. The winning team members will be awarded a prestigious coffee mug in honor of their pickleball prowess;
- A sign-up sheet for both events will be posted court-side at 9:00 am on Monday, March 30th. Each event requires a multiple of four players, i.e. 8 (the minimum), 12, 16 or 20 (the maximum). More than the maximum may sign up, but extra players shall be considered alternates in the order they signed up.
Anyone with questions can contact Mike at Lot #323.

Talking About Pickleball During The Summer Of 2026
The Executive Committee will be meeting monthly during the off-season to continue working on administrative tasks, developing next season’s budget & plans/goals, creating a 2026-27 court schedule & organized play programs (round robins, mixed doubles, ladies league, etc.), set dates for workshops, tournament & social events, etc. If you wish to make a suggestion, feel free to contact the Executive Committee at silveridgepickleball@gmail.com

In Closing

I hope you will be back again next season. Until then, we wish you safe travels and a summer of good health and lots of pickleball!
Make sure you keep us posted on Silveridge Connect, it’s always fun to stay connected.
