Club All Play
It has come to our attention that play during the morning “Club All Play” time (from 7:30 to 10:00) is not running as it is intended. This is a reminder and we ask everyone who plays during this time to remember the following:
Club All Play: open to Club members of all skills levels. The format is drop-in; no registration on SUG is required. Play is organized by using the paddle rack system. It is recommended you routinely change partners and play someone new – mix up and have fun.
The paddle rack system is intentionally designed to mix players together for play which is very social and inclusive. Should you want to play with specific people, use Sign Up Genius and book time during the “Arrange Your Own Game” slots or use the “Open Play” times on the court schedule.
Thank you for your cooperation.

I would like to say a special thank you to the current Executive Committee officers who are a hard-working bunch of individuals and have substantially contributed to the Club during the past year.
Debbie Nelson will be retiring from the Executive Committee as of March 7, 2026. Debbie was the Acting Director this season and she did an excellent job filling in the gaps and working on tasks to help the club run smoothly. The Sunshine Acres Children’s Home event in February was one example of how she shines and goes above and beyond the call of duty. Debbie has been on the Executive Committee since March 2023 and served as the Treasurer until November 2025. Debbie was always there to help members by answering their questions and providing guidance. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the club and the Executive Committee, Debbie. I’m sure we will see her helping the club in other volunteer capacities in the coming seasons.
Also retiring is our Communications officer, Kathy Port, who has been on the Executive Committee since March 2024 and has done an exceptional job implementing new ideas and streamlining tasks for the betterment of the club and its members. Kathy was the go to person helping members with their SUG questions. New members were also invited to seek her out at any time if they needed help. Kathy was also at events with her camera and posting updates on Silveridge Connect. We thank Kathy for her hard work and dedication to the club and Executive Committee.

Thank you to the 62 members who have completed the membership survey as of February 25, 2026. The Executive Committee is seeking your input and looking forward to your answers and comments, which helps us plan and make changes as needed.
Listed below is a list of how many members in each group have completed the survey. Our goal is to beat last year’s results by having 102 (40%) members complete the survey. Please help us reach our goal and click on the link below to complete the survey!

Group 2.5: 10 responses/34 members
Group 3.0: 6 responses/48 members

Some of the easy to share results will be reviewed at the AGM.
Thank you, we appreciate your feedback.

Player Movement Between Groups
Unfortunately, allowing players to self-rate themselves and move between groups has not gone smoothly and caused problems for your club and negatively affected the level of play at round robins. We asked all of our members to be accountable and use the Club Skill Level Guidelines when determining their skill level (= group level) and be realistic about their abilities. It appears some people have moved to and remain in the wrong skill level group. Therefore, we will move forward in addressing this situation knowing it is unrealistic to satisfy everyone.
The Executive Committee has established a Task Force Committee to conduct a comprehensive analysis of Silveridge’s current self-rated player movement system. The primary goal is to evaluate the system’s effectiveness within our unique club culture and provide strategic recommendations for the 2026/2027 season. If someone from the task force committee approaches you and asks questions or for your opinion/ideas, please feel free to provide them with honest answers.
The primary tasks:
- System Evaluation: Analyze the current self-rating model to determine its long-term viability and alignment with club standards and mission.
- Strategic Recommendations: Review membership survey results and analysis, propose refined or alternative player movement processes for implementation in the 2026/2027 season.
- Special Request Assessment: Review the formal request regarding the establishment of a 3.75 group. Provide a feasibility report and a recommendation on whether to implement this request or not.
- Open Consultation: Submit any additional observations or recommendations that could improve club operations or player experience.
Project Timeline: June 1, 2026.
The Executive Committee will review findings and recommendations, and decide if and what changes will be made.
Task Force Committee Members: Barry Halpenny, Mike Savre, and Mark Van Tassel

Group 3.25 King/Queen of the Court Tournament – January 31, 2026
16 players participated in the 3.25 King/Queen of the Court tournament on January 31.
Congratulations to the winners who are pictured above (left to right): Referee, Barry Halpenny, 1st place winners: Kathy Olson and Don Haynes, and 2nd place winners: Heather Boyd and Val Tomlinson.

Fun Play Time and Happy Hour Potluck Social Event – February 14, 2026
We had another successful fun play time event on the courts from 1:00 to 3:00 on February 14th.
It was great to see approximately 60 people at the pool area who participated in the 4:30 happy hour potluck social event.
Thank you to the Social Committee for making these events a success.

Sunshine Acres Volunteers – Sunday, February 15, 2026
We had 12 volunteers (our club members) participate in a special event at the Sunshine Acres Children’s Home on February 15th. There were 3 groups of kids who participated in a 40-minute clinic, which taught the kids about court safety and etiquette and how to play the game. It was a fun time for the kids and they appreciated us running the event for them.
Thank you to the volunteers who participated in our special event and helped our community learn about the fun sport of pickleball and the generosity of our club.
Special thank you to Debbie Nelson who did an awesome job organizing this one-time event.

Let’s Play Bingo!
Thank you to the more than 45 members (and their spouses/significant others) who played bingo on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026.
It showed our appreciation to the Renter’s Association who have provided financial funding to the Club on numerous occasions. With those funds we have purchased several items, which have improved the Pickleball Club.
The club has recently submitted a request for funds to purchase a new ball machine. The current ball machine is once again showing its age and failing to work properly.

Group 3.5 King of the Court Tournament – February 21, 2026
There were 20 players who participated in the 3.5 King/Queen of the Court tournament on February 21.
Congratulations to the winners who are pictured above (left to right): Referee, Barry Halpenny, 2nd place winners: John Finn and Rick Dill, and 1st place winners: Dave Grimm and Dale Johnson.
Thanks to Barry for being the referee during the final game.

SignUpGenius(SUG)
February 12, 2026: An update from SUG on their app:
We launched a brand new version of the SignUpGenius app on the Apple App Store. You can find it by searching SignUpGenius within the app store on iPhone devices. While our app is not yet available on the Google Play Store, we have submitted the Android version of the app for review and expect it to be available for download in the near future.
As with anything that changes, it takes some time to get used to it. If you have problems with your SUG account or the app, please contact SUG support via email at support@signupgenius.com. They provide excellent speedy service. If you are signed in, you can use the “Einstein” chat bot to ask questions and get assistance. You can also visit their website for support and search for answers.

New Players
If you know someone who isn’t a member yet and is interested in learning what pickleball is all about, the pickleball basics, and joining in on the fun, suggest they attend the Tuesday, 10:00 am Group 2.0 & Introduction to Pickleball session on courts 3 & 4. This session is for both members and non-members. Mentors are going to be on the courts to help participants learn how to play the game.
Club paddles are available for their use, and balls are provided. They should bring water, wear appropriate shoes and eyewear.
We look forward to meeting them!
Thanks to Debbie Nelson and Berniece Hall and all the other volunteers for taking the newbies under your wings.

Don’t miss a thing!
Remember to visit our website for club information and copies of the monthly Activity Calendar are available at court 1 and 3 in the document box and a printable format can be found on the Calendar of Events page. These can be hung on your fridge so you don’t miss a thing!
In Closing
Hope to see you at the March 7th Annual General Meeting.
The next Executive Committee meeting will be held on March 13th.
