Inter-Park Play: means organized, friendly competition between different RV resorts, or residential communities.

Silveridge Pickleball Club Members: Have you heard about the CMARS Inter-Park play? Would you like our club to participate?

The Silveridge Pickleball Club Executive Committee would like our Club members to review this information and become familiar with CMARS because we would like to know if you are interested in joining the CMARS Inter-Park Play for the 2027/2028 season. If you would like the Club to join CMARS then we will propose a required bylaw revision at the March 6, 2027 Annual General Meeting.

At the bottom of this page you will find a list of questions and answers for your review and we will add to the list when more questions come forward.

About the CMARS Inter-Park Play

Several RV parks in the immediate area participate in the CMARS Inter Park-Play:

CMARS was started by the Carriage Manor, Agave, Resort and Sunland Valley East. The first letter of each park was used to create its name: CMARS.

CMARS was created to promote pickleball play at your level, within the valley and most of all having fun and meeting other players.

You are invited to participate in a round robin event. There will be a limited number of players allowed to play in a round robin session (depending on the number of courts available) so reserve your spot.

Be at the courts at least 15 minutes prior to the start time to receive your playing number and get your warmup in. Courts and partners are randomly assigned, and games are to 11 points, with a time limit of 11-12 minutes with a 3-minute break between games depending on the weather. You are expected to stay and play for all the games. And don’t forget your water.

Proper name tags must be worn with your name and your park.

How to Participate

If you choose to participate in the CMARS Inter-Park Play, look at the schedule and choose the appropriate sessions you want to be invited to. See schedule below. You can register for as many sessions as you want at your level of play.
Email the host person listed for each event that you want to play in. You only do this once. The host will enter your name in their SignUpGenius (SUG).
Every week, you will receive an email from SUG inviting you to register to play. This email is usually 3-4 days prior to the scheduled play time. There are limited spots and so registration is on a first come first served basis.
Once you are registered, it is expected that you will show up and stay for the entire play time. If you are unable to attend, you may choose to find a replacement, or you must delete yourself from the round robin.

Questions and Answers About CMARS

Q: How many players would travel to other parks to participate in a CMARS round robin.

A: We asked some of the CMARS parks we visited and they said the lower levels usually get zero, mid range levels could get 0 to 4, while the 4.0+ level might get 0 to 6.

Q: If Silveridge joins CMARS, do we have to remain in it for the entire season? What if we change our minds and want to pull out?

A: Silveridge can pull out of CMARS or a particular skill level round robin at any time, if it isn't working for us.

Q: Are the players at the other resorts friendly?

A: CMARS was formed to promote pickleball play at your level, within the valley and most of all having fun and meeting other players. On our visit, the EC experience was inviting and welcoming. Some even host happy hour socials after playing.

Q: What about the skill levels? Are our skill levels similar to other parks?

A: All participating CMARS parks use a self rating system for their players. Each park may be structured differently when it come to levels. The best thing to do is go try a round robin that matches your skill level and if it doesn't match the play you were expecting then move up or down in the CMARS sessions.

Q: Can a player from a CMARS park just show up and play in our round robins? Will this open the door for random people to just show up and play?

A: Only players from the participating CMARS parks can play and they have to follow the established steps already laid out by the league. See the steps above in "How to participate". The Silveridge "Game Host" would look at the SUG sign-up to determine who will be playing - from Silveridge and other CMARS parks - because they have been added to our SUG group and invited to attend.

Q: What is a CMARS Game Host?

A: A CMARS game hosts organizes the round robin play, communicates with players from other CMARS parks via email when they ask to be added to our round robin, add players to SUG for the inter-park play round robin sessions, and send out SUG invites for the weekly round robin session. Maybe organize a social event and invite the visiting players to stay after the round robin so we can get to know each other. Time commitment would be approx. 10-30 minutes per day.

Q: How will we determine when a CMARS round robin session will happen and at what level?

A: This is a very good question. We can determine what level wants to participate and then during which of their regular round robin sessions would be designated as CMARS. For example, if the 3.5's wanted to participate, they might choose their Wednesday round robin at 11:00 am. We would add it to the CMARS schedule, knowing we might expect to have an additional 0-4 players (on average) sign-up and come play but only during that weekly round robin session. If you look at the CMARS schedule below, you will see what the other parks have done.

Q: Is there a fee to join CMARS?

A: No, there is no fee.

Q: Why would we want to join the CMARS?

A: For several reasons: you get to play with different people (if you're tired of playing the same people in your group!); the level of play might provide an opportunity for competitive games; meet new pickleball addicts; your schedule is busy and you can't make our round robin on a given day of the week, check out the CMARS schedule and you might be able to go play at a participating CMARS park; and you will have some fun! Some parks host a happy hour after play, so be prepared to have some fun! If we join CMARS, we recommend you gather a group of Silveridge members and car pool to another resort to give it a try.
