Hi Folks:

It was brought to the attention of your executive that there was an issue developing regarding pickleball players playing on Silveridge and the Resort courts without an invite from a resident. The executives of the Silveridge & Resort Pickleball Clubs met to resolve the matter. The following is the agreed upon resolution by both executives. I quote from the Silveridge RV Resort website:

“We have a sister park, The Resort RV Park, a few blocks away, and residents invite each other to their events and facilities.”

At no time can a person from another park play at the Silveridge Pickleball courts without an invitation by a Silveridge resident or Silveridge Pickleball Club member. That resident or member must accompany the guest(s) at the pickleball courts during “Resident and Guest Play,” only, as per the schedule posted at the courts and on our website. A Silveridge resident or Silveridge Pickleball Club member can invite a guest(s) to play, provided there is sufficient court space for other Silveridge residents or Silveridge Pickleball Club members to play during the “Residents and Guests Play.” If there are more than 16 players, all players must share time played on all 4 courts. Hopefully this resolves the issue.

I am happy to announce that Betty Royal and Karen Hendrickson have agreed to co-chair the Basket Raffles to replace Jill Vokes.  Thank you ladies for stepping up so soon.

I also want to thank Jim Barker for taking on the project of ordering club shirts for those requesting them.  Jim is currently doing some researching and will get back to the membership in the near future on this project.

Just a reminder that Wednesday, February 5th is the evening we encourage our membership to attend and play on Bingo night at the Centre.  The earnings from the Bingo nights are the funds used by the Renters Association to donate financial help to the various Silveridge Clubs.  Sign-up sheets have been posted at the bulletin boards at the courts and next to the Activity Desk at the Centre.  Please be sure to specify whether you plan to have supper at the Bingo as the kitchen must know by Friday, January 31st.

Speaking of the Renter's Association, we did a check on how many club members have paid the $5.00 per household Renter's Association due.  130 of our 200 members, 65% of our membership, have paid the $5.00 due.  In order for us to apply for funding from the Renter's Association we must have at least 80% of our membership pay the $5.00 per household due.  This is a very small price for the benefits gained.  If you haven't paid please take a minute and pay your $5.00.

Our next Fun Play & Social Day is scheduled for Saturday, February 15th, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Be sure to mark it on your calendar. As before, BYOB and an appetizer/snack to share with your fellow members.

The Silveridge Softball teams are planning a barbeque next Thursday, January 30th from 12:30 pm to approximately 4:00 pm. They will be using the Gazebo and lawn area to hold this barbeque. They expect approximately 50-60 people.  We have always accommodated their club in the past so I would ask the 3.0, 3.5 & 4.0 groups to meet on the east side of the courts during the round robins at that time.

March is going to be a busy month. We plan to have the Fun Tournament with the 1.0, 2.0 & 2.5 groups playing Saturday, February 29th, the Annual General Meeting Saturday, March 7th and the Fun Tournament with the 3.0, 3.5 & 4.0 groups playing Saturday, March 14th.

The Beginners Clinic, which was scheduled for Saturday, February 29th has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 22nd, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. The Advanced Clinic which was scheduled for Saturday, March 14th has been cancelled.

See you on the courts.
